• Kerb weight — the single biggest factor. Heavier shell = more steel for the shredder.
• Catalytic converter — precious-metal content (rhodium, palladium, platinum) can be worth £30–£200 alone.
• Battery — lead-acid batteries pay £8–£15. EV batteries are valued separately.
• Wheels — alloys add value vs steels.
• Engine size & type — diesel cats typically pay more than petrol cats.
• Completeness — missing engine, gearbox or doors reduces price.
