• Wheels — alloys add value vs steels.
• Engine size & type — diesel cats typically pay more than petrol cats.
• Completeness — missing engine, gearbox or doors reduces the price.

• Small petrol hatch (Fiesta, Corsa, Aygo, Polo) — lower end of the range.
• Mid petrol/diesel (Focus, Astra, Golf, 308) — mid range, diesels slightly stronger.

What scrap dealers won't tell you

Scrap metal price moves weekly. A quote good for 7 days is reasonable; anything 'set forever' is just absorbing risk into a lower price. Ask when the quote expires and you'll quickly tell the honest collectors from the ones playing games.
