How scrap car collection in Hampshire works
Scrapping your car with us takes four steps. Send your registration and postcode for a fixed written quote. Pick a collection time. Our driver arrives with a recovery truck, checks your ID and pays you by bank transfer before loading. We then tell the DVLA, so any road tax left is refunded to you automatically. - 1. Quote
Send your registration, postcode and the car's condition via the quote form or a quick phone call. We use the reg to pull the make/model and quote in minutes — a real, guaranteed figure, not an 'up to' range.
- 2. Book
Accept the price and pick a slot. Same-day if you call before 2pm; otherwise next-day. You get a text with the driver's name and ETA.
- 3. Collect
Our local Hampshire driver arrives in our own recovery truck (not a sub-contractor). They check the car, you hand over keys and V5 (if you have it), they pay you via instant bank transfer, and load up.
- 4. Paperwork
We notify DVLA the same day — that triggers your road-tax refund. We email you a Certificate of Destruction once the car has been processed at the ATF, usually within 48 hours.
Definitions
- ATF (Authorised Treatment Facility)
- A yard licensed by the UK Environment Agency to depollute, dismantle and recycle end-of-life vehicles under the End-of-Life Vehicles Regulations 2003. Only an ATF can legally issue a Certificate of Destruction.
- Certificate of Destruction (CoD)
- The official DVLA document that proves a car has been permanently scrapped. Issued by the ATF, sent to you and to DVLA, and released to you within 7 working days (we email within 48 hours).
- V5C (logbook)
- The vehicle registration document. Helpful but not required to scrap — we can collect without one and notify DVLA on your behalf.
- Road-tax refund
- DVLA automatically refunds any full unused months of vehicle excise duty once the scrap notification is processed. Cheque is posted to the address on the V5.
