Scrap a car with no MOT
Whether your MOT expired last week or two years ago — or the car just failed today — you can scrap it with us same day. Missing or failed MOT does not reduce your scrap price. We arrive on a flat-bed truck, load without the car ever being driven, pay you by instant bank transfer, and file the DVLA notification. Certificate of Destruction lands in your inbox within 48 hours.
- Same-day pickup across every Hampshire postcode
- No MOT — no problem, no price reduction
- Flat-bed recovery so the car never drives on the road
- Instant bank transfer before we load
- SORN'd cars welcome
- Free DVLA notification + Certificate of Destruction
Why no MOT doesn't affect scrap price
Scrap pricing tracks vehicle weight, catalytic-converter class and body-material type — the MOT stamp doesn't appear anywhere in that formula. A 2010 Focus that just failed on corrosion and one that's still MOT'd get identical scrap quotes, provided both are complete cars. What does move the price down: missing wheels, doors, bonnet, cat converter or interior — anything that reduces the weighbridge ticket at the ATF.
What to do if the MOT ran out months ago
If it's been sitting on the drive and you haven't SORN'd it, do the following in order:
- Move it off the road (own driveway or private land) if it's not already.
- Book the scrap collection with us — we'll give you a firm date.
- Optional: SORN via GOV.UK before collection to stop tax reminders.
- On collection day, hand us the V5, ID and address proof.
- We notify DVLA the same day the car is destroyed.
Comparison: private sale vs scrap when there's no MOT
| Route | Time | Typical outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Private sale "spares/repairs" | 2–6 weeks | Low-ball offers, no-shows, cash-only risk |
| MOT the car & sell | 1–4 weeks | £54.85 MOT + £150–£1,500 repairs before you sell |
| Scrap collection (us) | Same day | Guaranteed price, instant BACS, paperwork handled |
